At Viking Travel Care, we help travellers who become ill or injured while abroad. From our offices in Torrevieja and Fuengirola, Spain, we provide travel and medical assistance services 24/7, 365 days a year to customers and travellers worldwide.
We are now looking for a Team Leader for our Medical Assistance Coordinator (Nurse) team.
Our Nurses are experienced Registered Nurses from the Nordic countries. They assess medical reports, coordinate treatment, communicate with healthcare providers around the world, handle own medical cases, and support travellers during some of life's most challenging moments. They also serve as an important medical resource for colleagues across the Travel Care operation.
As Team Leader, you will have day-to-day personnel responsibility for a team of highly skilled nurses, supporting their development and helping ensure that the Medical Assistance team works in a structured, professional, and reliable way.
You will work closely with Viking Travel Care's Medical Management and Operations Management teams, as well as fellow Team Leaders, to support the continued development of our medical assistance services. In this role, you will act as an important link between the Medical Assistance team and management, helping translate strategic priorities into daily operations, quality improvements, and employee development.

Responsibilities
Personnel responsibility for a team of Medical Assistance Coordinators (nurses)
Conduct performance reviews, development conversations, and regular follow-up meetings
Drive employee engagement, professional development, and competence building within the team
Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members
Ensure delivery of agreed service levels, KPIs, and quality standards
Monitor workloads, staffing, and operational priorities
Support daily operations and assist with complex cases when needed
Handle administrative responsibilities such as scheduling, absence follow-up, and workforce planning
Promote high clinical and documentation standards
Ensure compliance with SOPs, routines, and quality requirements
Support the implementation of new processes, routines, and quality initiatives within the Medical Assistance team
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects across Travel Care
Qualifications Required
Experience from healthcare, medical assistance, travel assistance, insurance, customer service, operations, or another relevant field.
Fluent in one of the Nordic languages and English
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Comfortable working in a dynamic and international environment
Strong IT skills and ability to quickly learn new systems
Clean criminal record
Preferred
Relevant experience in people leadership, team coordination, employee development, or similar responsibilities.
Registered Nurse holding a valid nursing licence recognised within the EU, with a minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience
Experience from travel assistance, insurance medicine, emergency care, intensive care, ambulance services, acute care, or similar fields

Workplace
The position will be based at Viking Travel Care in Torrevieja or Fuengirola, Spain.
Working Hours
The role follows the Team Leader rotation and includes day, evening, and occasional weekend shifts, with flexibility needed to support a 24/7 operation when required.
